ABOUT US

Hurricane Ridge retrievers is nestled in the hills of the Ohio River valley 10 minutes east of Portsmouth, Ohio, and 45 minutes southwest of Huntington, West Virginia.

Hurricane Ridge was created out of a bond between “a boy and a dog” and that is our mission to be able to pass along that bond to you and your dog.

With Hurricane Ridge you will know who is training your dog. We do not have multiple trainers and you will have a constant direct line of contact with Ian to ensure you are informed of progress and any road blocks we may run into with training.

I dropped my lab off when she was just shy of six months old and Ian had his hands on her for six months.

During that time, Ian was very diligent about keeping me up to date on her progress and he was always willing to answer my questions.

I was always welcomed to train with and learn from Ian (which was extremely important for me given that I wanted to be involved in her training as well).

I recently ran in my first hunt tests completing my dog’s junior title as well as her first senior pass. Ian’s training approach helped create a dog that loves to hunt, cooperative, and obedient.

Not only is he a good trainer, but more importantly, he’s a good person who you can trust with your next gun dog.
